ALTWORKSPACE / LEEDS & WEST YORKSHIRE
One less spreadsheet.
One clearer way to work.
When information is scattered across messages and spreadsheets, a small application can give a routine job a clearer home. AltWorkspace builds business tools around a specific task and the people doing it.
Start with the work you repeat: collecting a job brief, preparing an indicative estimate, reviewing requests, or tracking what needs a response. The first version should solve a defined problem before it grows into a larger system.
Practical applications for small teams.
- Structured enquiry forms and job-request boards.
- Quote calculators with visible assumptions.
- Customer or project information organised around your workflow.
- Internal dashboards and status updates.
- Connections to existing tools, where feasible and agreed.
A calculator should explain its assumptions.
The cleaning example adjusts a sample price by service, number of rooms and visit frequency. It is clearly labelled as an estimate. A live version would use your actual pricing rules and explain when a property review is required before confirming a price.
A dashboard should make the next action obvious.
The example owner inboxes show new requests and simple decisions. A real team may need additional roles, history, notifications or reporting. Those requirements affect the design, implementation and ongoing cost, so we agree them in advance.
Start small and price the real scope.
Applications are custom quoted. We agree each stage’s specification, price, revision allowance and acceptance criteria before starting. No deposit is required: you review and approve the agreed stage before its payment becomes due. Previously approved stages remain payable. Multi-user systems, authentication, integrations, reporting and payments all affect the scope.
Hosting, support, data retention, access permissions and handover are part of the planning conversation. They should not be assumptions discovered after launch.
Improve a process before automating it.
We first map what happens today: who supplies information, who checks it, what decision follows, and where things get delayed. Sometimes a better form or clearer status is enough. Other situations justify a dedicated application.
Bring a real example.
Describe a recent task that took longer than it should. Tell us who was involved and what a better result would look like. Avoid sending sensitive customer data in the initial enquiry; a simple description is enough to start.
Explore a working concept.
All examples are fictional concepts built by AltWorkspace, not claimed client projects.
